I heard these encouraging words from a motivational video, ‘If things go according to how you wish, that is good. But if they don’t, that is even better. Because if they don’t happen according to your will, then they happen according to the will of some divine force and that force will never think ill of you.
Sometimes you go through a lot of challenges and for example if you’re a believer, you start to wonder if God really exists. You wonder, ‘Did I make the wrong choices, am I being punished for some sin I did before or is it that life wasn’t just meant for me?’
But when you understand how God works & how things work – then you tend to have less fear and more faith in such trying times. It’s said, ‘people only fear what they don’t understand!’ One of my favorite verses from the Bible says,
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it”. – 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV).
I once came across a writing somewhere which was titled, ‘God’s Gifts’ that said,
‘I prayed for strength but God gave me difficulties to make me strong; I prayed for wisdom, He gave me problems to solve; I prayed for love, He gave me troubled people to help; I prayed for blessings, He gave me browns and brains to work;
I prayed for favors, He gave me opportunities; I prayed for courage, He gave me dangers to overcome. I received nothing I wanted and everything I needed. My prayer has been answered!’
God Prepares His People
You see, God always wants to start with you somewhere. He wants to make you understand how things work, things that you can’t understand by an explanation but by experience, just like the proverb goes, ‘Experience is the best teacher!’
God prepares us for many other reasons – like He wants to prepare you so someday you will help another person who is in the same situation as you or He just wants to make you stronger so you can face the greater battles ahead, among other reasons.
‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,17 So that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work’. 2 Tim. 3:16(NIV).
There’re two inspiring stories; ‘Fatima the Queen – A poor girl who become a Queen’ and ‘The Big & the Little Angel’ where one talks about, ‘Destiny unfolds in God’s Way’ and the other says, ‘Things aren’t always what they seem’.
These two stories will make it clearer by giving you a better perspective, one that will appreciate ugly situations even when you still don’t see the way out. Some people talk of, ‘…things that were meant to be’ so when we think of God’s will basing from the scriptures above, that fact seems true. So, despite the fact that we have a free will to choose, it also appears that God has a divine plan for us so that we don’t have to walk alone, because our perspectives might be wrong and most of the times, we are wrong on our own.
The thing that Moves God to Act
I read a quote that said, ‘The greatest curse of an average person is taking a lot pleasure in looking down on themselves’. You cry and pity yourself, but I truly believe that God doesn’t bless people because He pity them, He blesses them because they’re ready. He is not a God who is moved by remorse or pity but by faith.
So, do not cry so much with a lot of fear when you face trials but have faith that God is molding a destiny.
Personally, I believe that there are not problems in life. Only weaknesses. Because when you work on yourself and grow stronger, problems grow weaker! Just as the saying goes, ‘It doesn’t get easier, you get stronger!’‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ – Romans 8:28 (NIV)
